NT / 2000 / XP bug |
Security SetUp II -
Light (all builds)
|
| The
problem |
Security SetUp
will 'run' on MS-Win NT / 2000, however it has a major problem it
will only change the security settings for the profile logged in
(hence the person using Security SetUp). The reason for this
bug is that Win NT / 2000 has a different way of handeling the
Windows registry.
This will hopefully be solved in Security SetUp 2000 (or 2001)
which hopefully will be ready around christmas 2001. We cant
give any details on nither releasedate or comapbility as the
software has not been tested yet.

| 'Workaround' |
The problem basicly makes Security
SetUp rather worthless when talking Windows NT / 2000, however if
you are dead set on using it you could do something like this (I
know of a few users that has chosen this option).
If you are an administrator simply
log in as the different users, setup security using Security SetUp
(you can use the 'template' feature to avoid manually checking all
the boxes) apply and logoff. This has to be done for all
users, and is thus only usefull if there is a limited number of
users.
